ASBESTOS AND LEAD ABATEMENT
ASBESTOS CONTAMINATION
Asbestos has been used for thousands of years, but until recently we did not fully understand the environmental, occupational and ,ultimately, health ramifications asbestos presents. Asbestos Containing Materials, or ACM, may be found in drywall, plaster or joint compounds, roofing materials, flooring and ceiling material, fireproofing and pipe insulation, to name just a few applications.
LEAD CONTAMINATION
Lead is a poisonous metal that can damage the nervous system - especially in children and cause blood and brain disorders. Lead poisoning typically results from ingestion of food or water contaminated with lead; but may also occur after accidental ingestion of contaminated soil, dust, or lead based paint. Lead exposure may occur in paint products, piping, fuel and ceramic glazing. Lead contamination is found mostly in older buildings.
MOLD REMEDIATION
Molds are a constant in nature, and mold spores are a common component of household and workplace dust. However, when spores are present in large quantities, they can pose a health hazard to humans; potentially causing allergic reactions and respiratory problems.
Some molds produce "toxic mold", or "mycotoxins" that can pose serious health risks to humans and animals. Exposure to high levels of mycotoxins can lead to neurological problems and in some instances death.
